Craniosacral Therapy
Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle hands-on approach that focuses on the craniosacral system, which are the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. This treatment is aimed at releasing tension in your body’s connective tissue. The human body is interconnected, both structurally and functionally. This means that one area of your body can affect another. The goal of CST is tension relief (fascial clearance), this may help improve the function of the central nervous system amongst other systems within the body.
Cranial Osteopathy is a safe and effective form of treatment, which also uses a gentle hands-on approach, allowing Osteopathic Manual Practitioners (OMPs) to work with subtle tensions and strains within all structures and systems of the body, for example: muscles, ligaments & bones, and not just the head as the name would suggest! OMPs work with the body’s innate ability to heal itself to help guide these areas of strain into balance and optimal function. This form of treatment is frequently used to help infants with feeding difficulties, such as post tongue tie release, and with infants struggling with gas issues.
Both these forms of treatment are also beneficial for those dealing with stress and/or anxiety, head difficulties such as headaches or traumatic brain injuries, or any individual of all ages looking for overall wellness.

What happens during a session?
By quietly resting their hands on your skull and sacrum (base of your spine attached to your tailbone), the therapist palpates to assess the mobility, facial tensions and rhythm of these areas. The goal is to achieve balance of structures to improve function of body systems and allow for the most optimal environment for the body to self-heal and self-regulate. All layers of the body are affected and manipulated throughout treatment including the deep layers of fluid and membranes. No instruments or devices are used.
What does cranial treatment feel like?
Treatment is very gentle and relaxing. During the treatment some people are aware of different sensations, such as mild tension, aching or sensitivity that gradually disappear, or of feelings of warmth and relaxation. Other people are unaware of anything happening at all during the treatment but are aware that they feel very different afterwards. Most people become deeply relaxed during treatment and it is not uncommon for people to fall asleep.
